The first sensation when uncorking a bottle of Mantuan Lambrusco DOP Ventesimo Canto is the delicious scent of currant and black cherry, followed by the deep ruby red color that slips into the glass and ends with a creamy and very persistent froth. A wine with a round taste, perfect for every meal. The name comes from the 20th Canto of Dante’s Inferno, in which our village, Governol, is mentioned as the place where the Mincio River flows into the Po.
Its low alcohol content and characteristic sparkling qualities make it a light, not particularly demanding wine. It is best drunk young, within a year of bottling at most. Keep to the recommended serving temperature of between 12°C and 15°C and you will experience all the fruity scents and that velvety but intense taste that determine the character of this wine.
Its marked aciditymakes it the ideal companion for meat dishes. Harmonious and fresh, it pervades the palate and tones down any particularly strong flavours. Lambrusco Mantovano DOP Ventesimo Canto is one of the great Mantuan classics, the sparkling red to accompany your meals, but also to sip while enjoying an aperitif.
